Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels

The Farmington Phoenix will be home for the holidays to greet the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Farmington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-62 win over Bingham.

Paul Beattie was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds. Those 33 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Larsen, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Viewmont with a 69-65 win.

Will Lindsay continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Spencer Krainich, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Farmington pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Mountain Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Farmington have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Mountain Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 28.3 rebounds per game. Given Farmington's sizeable advantage in that area, Mountain Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap.

Farmington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mountain Ridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. Does Farmington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
