Basketball Recap: Northside Comes Up Short

Northside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The game between them and the Russell County Warriors didn't end well, with the Northside Patriots falling 58-42. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-35 back in December of 2024.

Russell County was led to victory by Mckenzie Word and Camyra Toney. Word went 10 for 20 en route to 23 points, while Toney went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Word has scored at least a third of Russell County's points. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Word, who posted ten points and six boards.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Russell County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12.

Northside will challenge Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Russell County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
