Highland has won three straight games at home, while Lancaster has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Highland was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Antelope Valley on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Antelopes. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Lancaster took on Knight on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Hawks 16-3.
Sam Salas made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elsy Herrera was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Zinn, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Highland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Lancaster, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Everything went Highland's way against Lancaster when the teams last played back in March, as Highland made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
