Baseball Game Preview: Holdenville Wolverines vs. Meeker Bulldogs

The Holdenville Wolverines will head out to square off against the Meeker Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Holdenville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Holdenville took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Wewoka with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jace Dockrey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Bo Black also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Holdenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Meeker sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Luther on Thursday.

The victory got Holdenville back to even at 2-2. As for Meeker, their record now sits at 16-8.

Holdenville skirted past Meeker 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
