Baseball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cougars vs. Kalama Chinooks

The Seton Catholic Cougars will head out to take on the Kalama Chinooks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seton Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

On Saturday, Seton Catholic earned a 9-5 win over Skyview.

Jack Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryker Ruelas and Garrett Nebels did most of the damage at the plate: Ruelas scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Nebels scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Nebels a new career-high. Graham Dumas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Kalama scored the most runs they've had this season last Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Fort Vancouver by a score of 14-13.

Seton Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Kalama, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Seton Catholic took their win against Kalama when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 14-8 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Chinooks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
