The Rancho San Juan Trailblazers will head out to square off against the Carmel Padres at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho San Juan has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rancho San Juan came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-3 to Alisal. The Trailblazers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Melony Erazo-Chavez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Carmel entered their tilt with King City on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Padres have posted against the Mustangs since March 30, 2022.
Ava Mangiapane was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Mangiapane was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mangiapane wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Houston, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Another was Nicole Tapson, who earned one RBI and two stolen bases.
Carmel pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Rancho San Juan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rancho San Juan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rancho San Juan suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Carmel in their previous meeting on April 4th. Can the Trailblazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
