Softball Recap: Service Comes Up Short

Service extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They fell 15-10 to the Chugiak Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 19-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Chugiak, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Chugiak's part, Brooklyn McCormick was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs McCormick has posted since back in April. Celeste Mast was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Service has already played their next matchup, a 13-10 defeat against South Anchorage on the 14th. As for Chugiak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-3 victory against Dimond on the 14th.
