The Colfax Bulldogs and the Pullman Greyhounds will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Colfax's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
On Tuesday, Colfax got the win against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna by a conclusive 11-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Grace Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ava Swan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Jones wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Colfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Pullman and West Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Pullman skirted past West Valley 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted since April 4, 2024.
Bailee Randall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Taylor Cromie was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Cori Stewart, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Colfax's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Pullman, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Colfax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .470. However, it's not like Pullman struggles in that department as they've averaged .393. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colfax took their victory against Pullman in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 19-9. Will Colfax repeat their success, or does Pullman has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
