Baseball Game Preview: Oratory Prep Rams vs. Elizabeth Minutemen

The Oratory Prep Rams will challenge the Elizabeth Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oratory Prep is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.

Oratory Prep proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 13) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Johnson 5-3.

Thomas Albanito tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Oratory Prep's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Devon Mulvaney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Elizabeth couldn't beat Dayton on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Minutemen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7.

Derek Escobar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaime Tamayo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Oratory Prep's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Elizabeth, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
