Baseball Recap: Frewsburg Extends Winning Streak to Six

Frewsburg had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They came out on top against the Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama Wolfpack by a score of 5-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 17, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Aidan Gruber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Eckman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Frewsburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 14-0-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Maddox Sheesley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Frewsburg pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.
