Basketball Game Preview: Carrollton Cavaliers vs. Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals

Carrollton is a perfect 10-0 against Michigan Lutheran Seminary since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Carrollton Cavaliers will face off against the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Carrollton has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 10.

On Tuesday, Carrollton was beaten by Pinconning 87-60. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 592nd, while the Spartans are ranked 281st).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Michigan Lutheran Seminary took on Mayville on Monday. Michigan Lutheran Seminary was the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over Mayville. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Carrollton better keep an eye on Noah Reif. He was instrumental in Michigan Lutheran Seminary's win, going 9 for 13 to rack up 19 points and eight boards. That's the most points Reif has posted since back in February of 2024. Zachary Scharrer was another key player, putting up eight points.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Carrollton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Carrollton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Michigan Lutheran Seminary in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrollton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
