Preview: Portage Christian vs. Calumet Christian Patriots
Portage Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Calumet Christian Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Portage Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, Portage Christian was the victim of a rough 66-40 defeat at the hands of Mishawaka HomeSchool W. Portage Christian has not had much luck with Mishawaka HomeSchool W recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Calumet Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-45 loss to Victory Christian Academy on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brad Nymeyer, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below three steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was William Hayes, who scored 13 points.
Portage Christian dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Calumet Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-17.
Portage Christian might still be hurting after the 48-28 defeat they got from Calumet Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nymeyer, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
