Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Beth Tfiloh

Beth Tfiloh proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Pallotti Panthers. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The result came thanks to Zachary Rogers's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Beth Tfiloh is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Kades, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. He is becoming a predictor of Beth Tfiloh's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Beth Tfiloh hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Beth Tfiloh now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Pallotti, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beth Tfiloh will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Park School at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th. As for Pallotti, they will face off against St. John's Catholic Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
