Baseball Game Preview: Chester Cyclones vs. Lancaster Bruins

Chester hasn't had much luck against Lancaster recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chester Cyclones are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Lancaster Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chester picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against American Leadership Academy by a score of 9-5.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lancaster). They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Dreher on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Bufford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Lancaster got a massive performance out of Dayton Hollenbeck, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Hollenbeck also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Parker McGee was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

The win got Chester back to even at 1-1. As for Lancaster, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
