Softball Recap: Hewitt-Trussville Falls Short of Vestavia Hills in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hewitt-Trussville can now relate to. They fell just short of the Vestavia Hills Rebels by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 12-1.

Hewitt-Trussville got a massive performance out of Corey Goguts, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Erin Coleman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Hewitt-Trussville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 27-15-1. As for Vestavia Hills, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-19-1.

Hewitt-Trussville has already played their next match, an 11-1 win against Oak Mountain on the 26th. Hopefully Vestavia Hills paid attention to the Huskies' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
