Basketball Recap: Draughn Comes Up Short

Draughn had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-22 to make it six. They were outmatched by the Hibriten Panthers and fell 87-56. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while the Panthers are ranked 267th).

As for Hibriten, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games.

Hibriten's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colin Cook led the charge by putting up 23 points and three steals. That's the most points Cook has posted since back in December of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Rob Beasley, who scored 19 points.

Draughn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hibriten, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-39 win against East Burke on the 18th.
