Volleyball Recap: University Bulldogs vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles
After flying high against Frontier Academy last Tuesday, University came back down to earth. The University Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles on Friday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bulldogs haven't been shut out since back in September.
While University was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.
Delaney Lauer paced University's offense, picking up nine kills. Lauer got some help from
Kaitlin Smith and her 20 assists.
Mountain Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joey Laterza led the charge by getting 16 digs. Laterza has been hot , having posted 12 or more digs the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Morella, who had nine digs and two aces.
University's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
University has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Palmer Ridge on the 1st. As for Mountain Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Thompson Valley on the 1st.
