Baseball Game Preview: St. Francis Golden Knights vs. Loyola Cubs

For the second straight game, St. Francis will face off against Loyola. The Golden Knights will be playing at home against the Cubs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Francis has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with ten straight losses, while Loyola will come in with four straight victories.

St. Francis fell victim to Loyola and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Knights have suffered against the Cubs since March 22, 2022.

For Loyola's part, Luke Connon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Connon a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Loyola's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Bendel, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Loyola, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
