Volleyball Game Preview: Waynedale Golden Bears vs. Smithville Smithies

Waynedale is 2-8 against Smithville since August of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Golden Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Smithies at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Waynedale barely beat Chippewa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Bears were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Chipps on Tuesday. The Golden Bears not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 9th (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 28-26, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Smithville got the win against Northwestern on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Smithies.

Smithville was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.

Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Waynedale, their win bumped their record up to an identical 14-7.
