Football Recap: William Campbell Generals vs. Chatham Cavaliers
William Campbell extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were dealt a 36-0 loss at the hands of the Chatham Cavaliers. The shutout was out of character for the Generals seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.
As for Chatham, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Vanderhyde, who rushed for 90 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also threw for 41 yards and one TD.
Looking ahead, William Campbell will square off against Appomattox County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Generals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chatham, they will head out on the road to square off against Gretna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
