Volleyball Recap: Thunder Basin Falls Short Against Ranked Stevens

Thunder Basin is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Stevens. The Bolts fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-1. The Bolts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Thunder Basin lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Traecyn Hilliard, who had nine digs and two aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Thunder Basin and nudges their season record down to 9-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Laramie (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 95% over those games). As for Stevens, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thunder Basin will square off against Laramie at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup will give the Bolts their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Stevens, they will challenge Hill City at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
