Last Friday, John Milledge Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against First Presbyterian Day, but they still walked away with a 27-22 win.
Javian Butts continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 35 receiving yards. Butts is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kolt McMichael, who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was John Milledge Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Isaiah Womble and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Mount de Sales Academy was the victim of a tough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Stratford Academy on Friday. Mount de Sales Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Mount de Sales Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Linder, who rushed for 111 yards on only ten carries, and Zavion Deshazier who threw for 151 yards and a touchdown.
John Milledge Academy's win was their 21st straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34 points. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for John Milledge Academy against Mount de Sales Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 54-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for John Milledge Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
