Preview: North Boone Vikings vs. Monmouth-Roseville Titans
The North Boone Vikings will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Monmouth-Roseville Titans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
North Boone unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 62-34 loss at the hands of Dixon. North Boone was down 49-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Monmouth-Roseville fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 34-18 victory over Sherrard on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monmouth-Roseville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Payton Thompson, who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Thompson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Myers, who rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Monmouth-Roseville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Nicholas Bryan huston and his four sacks.
North Boone's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Monmouth-Roseville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
