Basketball Recap: East Central Takes a Loss

East Central lost against Laurel last Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The East Central Hornets took a blow against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes, falling 70-18. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 14th).

It was another big night for Kayllis Walker, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds for Laurel. Walker's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gracelyn Carmichael, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

East Central now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Laurel, the win was the 23rd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-1.

As of now, neither East Central nor Laurel have any future games scheduled.
