Softball Game Preview: Briarcrest Christian Saints vs. Arlington Tigers

Briarcrest Christian hasn't had much luck against Arlington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Briarcrest Christian will welcome Arlington at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Briarcrest Christian came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Gibson Southern, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Saints couldn't push the score so high this time.

Briarcrest Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Eison, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. That hit was Eison's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Arlington didn't have quite enough to beat Millington Central on Monday and fell 15-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (12), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Jenna Reeves stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. McKenzie Walker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Even though they lost, Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Arlington has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-2 record this season. Briarcrest Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Briarcrest Christian suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Arlington in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Briarcrest Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
