Softball Recap: Nederland Falls to Bridge City in First Game of Season

Nederland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 11-8 to the Bridge City Cardinals on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Saydee Montoya was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Chambless, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Looking ahead, Nederland will square off against Big Sandy at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Bridge City, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals challenge the Panthers on Thursday.
