Baseball Recap: Sun Valley Find Success

Sun Valley lost to South Mecklenburg back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Sun Valley came out on top against South Mecklenburg by a score of 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Connor Salerno looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Braxton McGinniss was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Matzke, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Sun Valley's record now sits at 8-3. As for South Mecklenburg, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.

Coming up, South Mecklenburg will host Catawba Ridge at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Sun Valley will be paying especially close attention to South Mecklenburg's contest: after South Mecklenburg faces off against Catawba Ridge, they'll take on Sun Valley again at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
