Football Recap: Morley Stanwood Comes Up Short

Morley Stanwood had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it five. They received a blow as they fell 22-8 to the Central Montcalm Hornets. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, the Mohawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Central Montcalm, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Morley Stanwood: they've now won four in a row.

Central Montcalm was led to victory by McCoy Wernholm and Brayden Peak. Wernholm rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown, while Peak picked up 72 receiving yards and one score.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morley Stanwood will welcome Comstock Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Montcalm, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kent City at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hornets 11.2, the Eagles 5.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
