Basketball Game Preview: San Gorgonio Spartans vs. Big Bear Bears

The San Gorgonio Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Big Bear Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

San Gorgonio will head into Monday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 37) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 57-54 victory over Vista del Lago. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since January 18th.

Meanwhile, Big Bear came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 75-72 victory over the Sun Devils.

Big Bear is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for San Gorgonio, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

San Gorgonio took a serious blow against Big Bear when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 69-41. Can San Gorgonio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
