Recap: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Saint Andrew's Scots
On Saturday, Cypress Bay strolled past Saint Andrew's with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Cypress Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Saint Andrew's is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peyton Looky continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Agam Gago was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Saint Andrew's still got an impressive performance from Emma Smith, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Smith scored a full 51.2% of Saint Andrew's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Beighley, who scored nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Cypress Bay and bumps their season record up to 13-1. As for Saint Andrew's, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Cypress Bay will be playing in front of their home fans against Miramar at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Miramar is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Saint Andrew's and West Boca Raton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully West Boca Raton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
