Basketball Recap: Orangewood Christian Starts Season with Victory Against Freedom

Orangewood Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They managed a 66-60 victory over the Freedom Patriots. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.

Leading Orangewood Christian to victory were Gavin Lawhorn and Adam Wild. Lawhorn shot 75% from the field on his way to 15 points, while Wild went 6-for-11 to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Will Vargas, who shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points.

Orangewood Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Looking ahead, Orangewood Christian will be playing at home against Winter Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freedom, they will venture away from home to take on Tavares at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
