Basketball Game Preview: American Patriots vs. South Dade Buccaneers

The American Patriots will face off against the South Dade Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

American will head into Monday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were beaten by Northwestern 48-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite their loss, American saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anecia Momplaisir, who posted three points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, South Dade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-27 loss at the hands of Keys Gate. The Buccaneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-16.

Despite the defeat, South Dade saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jurnee Walters earned 12 points and seven steals.

South Dade's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for American, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: American has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 boards per game. However, it's not like South Dade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
