Softball Preview: Jackson Polar Bears vs. McKinley Bulldogs

Jackson is 10-0 against McKinley since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Jackson Polar Bears will head out on the road to square off against the McKinley Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Jackson is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

On Wednesday, Jackson earned a 6-3 victory over South.

Courtney Helle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Jackson's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Whitmer, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Gabbi Williamson was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with a triple.

Meanwhile, McKinley is still looking for their season's first win. They lost 16-7 to Alliance on Monday. One positive for McKinley, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 13-14. As for McKinley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Jackson's way against McKinley in their previous matchup back in April as Jackson made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
