Basketball Game Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Weeping Water Indians

Elmwood-Murdock and Weeping Water are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Weeping Water Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Elmwood-Murdock was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Sacred Heart. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Irish: they've now lost three in a row.

Brooklyn Mans put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Annie Backemeyer, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Weeping Water was able to grind out a solid victory over Pawnee City on Tuesday, taking the game 45-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for Weeping Water.

Elmwood-Murdock better keep an eye on Kalison Miller. She was instrumental in Weeping Water's win, putting up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Brack, who had six points.

Weeping Water pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Elmwood-Murdock, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Elmwood-Murdock was able to grind out a solid victory over Weeping Water in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 40-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elmwood-Murdock since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
