Softball Game Preview: Carlinville Cavaliers vs. Greenville Comets

The Carlinville Cavaliers will head out to take on the Greenville Comets at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Greenville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Carlinville, who comes in off a win.

While Carlinville's win against Vandalia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cavaliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Vandals on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Vandals: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Greenville didn't have quite enough to beat Pana on Friday and fell 3-2.

Haylee Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 16-5-1. As for Carlinville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Carlinville beat Greenville 6-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
