Baseball Game Preview: Geneva Eagles vs. Lakeside Dragons

For the second straight game, Geneva will face off against Lakeside. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

While Geneva's victory against Lakeside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dragons 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Dragons since April 5, 2022.

Andrew Oros was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ryland Besco, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakeside and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Geneva, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Geneva came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeside in their previous matchup on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
