Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Comes Up Short

Ponderosa was the 62-45 winner over Castle View when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ponderosa Mustangs took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Castle View Sabercats on Friday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, don't look at Ryan Tongren. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 10 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Tongren a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Norman, who posted 13 points.

Castle View found their leader in sophomore Bubba Wyatt, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mckean, who earned 11 points and six steals.

Ponderosa's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Castle View, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Coming up, Ponderosa will venture away from home to face off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponderosa is facing Douglas County at the right time seeing as Douglas County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Castle View, they will be playing at home against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Castle View surely won't give up without a fight.
