Baseball Recap: Adena Warriors vs. Huntington Huntsmen
Adena extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They came up short against the Huntington Huntsmen, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huntsmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on April 9th.
As for Huntington, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
For Huntington's part, Brayden Elliott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. The Huntsmen are 4-1 when Elliott allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Seth Throckmorton, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy McDonald, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Adena will take on Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Huntington, they will venture away from home to take on River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
