Canutillo takes loss despite strong efforts from Jovanni Ortiz and Isaac Torres

It was a good run, but the Canutillo Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 66-32 loss at the hands of Chapin. Canutillo has struggled against Chapin recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Canutillo's loss came despite strong showings from Isaac Torres and Jovanni Ortiz. Torres scored nine points, while Ortiz scored seven points along with six rebounds.

Leading Chapin to victory were Jacob Garcia and Brandon Hymes. Garcia scored 17 points along with two steals, while Hymes scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Garcia scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Leverett, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Canutillo's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Chapin, their victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing El Paso the next time they take the court. Chapin will head out to face El Paso at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Canutillo will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
