Football Game Preview: Honey Grove Warriors vs. Cooper Bulldogs

The Honey Grove Warriors will square off against the Cooper Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Honey Grove sitting on five straight wins and Cooper on four.

Honey Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game last Friday with ease, bagging a 57-12 victory over Alba-Golden. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Panthers are ranked 1111th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ryelan Morris produced another solid effort rushing for 234 yards and four scores on only 14 carries, while also picking up 36 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jarrmez Daniels got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Honey Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Daniels picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Cooper against Alba-Golden on Thursday as the squad secured a 43-6 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than 34 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Honey Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Honey Grove beat Cooper 26-14 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bulldogs' Adryean Finney, who rushed for 169 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.0 yards per carry.
