Baseball Recap: Stevenson Has No Trouble Against Credo

Stevenson's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Credo Gryphon with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Phinn Thomas made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reggie Bell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tono Borgomini, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Stevenson's record is now 9-5. As for Credo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stevenson will host Monte Vista Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Credo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roseland Collegiate Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gryphon are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
