Baseball Game Preview: Woodmont Wildcats vs. Greenwood Eagles

The Woodmont Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Greenwood Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodmont is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Woodmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hillcrest with a sharp 12-3 victory on Tuesday. The Wildcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 11-1).

Laurens hit Greenwood with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-6. The Eagles have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Triston Lewis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Greenwood is 3-1 when Lewis posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Jameson Pate was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Woodmont, their win bumped their record up to an identical 10-12.

Woodmont suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Greenwood when the teams last played back in April. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
