Basketball Recap: Hemingway Starts off Right with Win over Virtus Academy

Hemingway had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 67-40 win over the Virtus Academy Wolves. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 23-point advantage.

Hemingway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Snow out in front who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Deon Nesmith, who scored 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why Virtus Academy lost, don't look at Bryson Hunter. Despite the final result, he had 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Williamson, who earned seven points.

Virtus Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Hemingway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-36 loss against Scott's Branch on the 25th. Hopefully Virtus Academy paid attention to the Tigers' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tigers at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
