Baseball Recap: Port Arthur Memorial Comes Up Short

Port Arthur Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to the West Brook Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Tuesday.

Daniel Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Pablo Penner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Port Arthur Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for West Brook, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-18-1.

Port Arthur Memorial and West Brook could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Titans will square off against Sterling at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (1056 vs. 520). Meanwhile, West Brook (ranked 814th) will meet Barbers Hill (ranked 57th) at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
