It's playoff time, and Skyline had no trouble coming through when it counted. They beat the Kamiak Knights on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-7. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Abby Haapala tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Skyline got a massive performance out of Emma Kell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Devyn Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Skyline lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.
Skyline pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kamiak, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
As of now, neither Skyline nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
