A total of 175 players that were on NFL rosters in 2019 suited up on Friday nights in Texas. That trails only Florida and California.
The Lone Star State has four teams — DeSoto, Fort Bend Elkins, North Shore and Westlake — with four NFL players rostered in 2019, and Westlake has two former Super Bowl MVPs in Drew Brees and Nick Foles as alumni.
Patrick Mahomes of Whitehouse leads the attention of much of the nation and Texas leading up to Feb. 2's Super Bowl LIV in Miami. And while the star power is on the Chiefs with Mahomes, a three-sport athlete in high schools, San Francisco has eight Texas prep alumni on its roster to Kansas City's four.
