Softball Recap: Southampton Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southampton Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks on Thursday. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Dutchess Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Kelsey Braun and Reagan Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Braun went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run, while Webb got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Braun a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Sawyer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Southampton Academy now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Southampton Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against StoneBridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
