Softball Recap: Gadsden Panthers vs. Organ Mountain Knights
Gadsden extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-3. They came up short against the Organ Mountain Knights, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Knights this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-3 loss on Thursday.
Abygail Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Organ Mountain, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Organ Mountain's side, Isabella Salinas spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. Salinas has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Natalie Menchaca was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gadsden will take on rival Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Organ Mountain is set to square off against their familiar foe Alamogordo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 1.9, the Tigers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
