After a string of four wins, South Rowan's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Lake Norman Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, South Rowan sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 18-25, 20-18.

Despite the loss, South Rowan still got an impressive performance from Campbell Withers, who had 34 digs and three aces. Withers is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Cailynn Withers was another key player, getting 12 digs and two aces.

Jordin Smith was the offensive standout of the match as she had 24 digs and two assists.

South Rowan suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3. As for Lake Norman, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Rowan will head out to face off against Northwest Cabarrus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lake Norman, they will venture away from home to take on Reagan at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
