Baseball Recap: Newburyport Victorious

Newburyport won the last time they faced Manchester Essex and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Clippers came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.

Evan Luekens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Newburyport got a big performance out of Jack Oreal, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ray Arcand, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Newburyport's record is now 6-4. As for Manchester Essex, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newburyport will face off against Pentucket Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manchester Essex, they will square off against Hamilton-Wenham Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Hornets have won three straight at home, while the Generals won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
